About this experience
For generations, Margaret Island had been Budapest’s island of tranquility. Until, among the old plans of the Musical Well, drawings of Péter Bodor’s secret resonator were discovered alongside a strange melody. According to legend, Bodor created a device capable of using sound to set water, metal, and stone into vibration and, in times of danger, seal the island off from the outside world. Beside the sheet music was a warning: “Never play this melody to the end. If the final note sounds, the island will close. And whoever fails to find the Key will remain here forever.” The melody was played anyway. At first, nothing seemed to happen. But in reality, the resonator had awakened, and ever since, it has sensed every new arrival who sets foot on the island. The moment you enter the island, a deep, unfamiliar melody fills the air: the Stone Symphony begins to play. Fog covers the Danube, the sky darkens, the landscape fades to grey, and the bridges disappear. There is no way out. And then you understand the secret of the statues: not all of them were made of stone. Some heard the Stone Symphony before you did, but failed to escape in time. The only way out is Bodor’s Tuning Key, which can silence the resonator. He hid the pieces of the key at different locations across the island. Now you must collect them, assemble the Tuning Key, and stop the Stone Symphony before Margaret Island gains more silent figures.
